Rich Tasks for Maths Learning

Each week the children get into groups and complete rich tasks for Maths (tasks that have more than one answer). This week the children came up with their own questions from a picture and then answered them. It was really interesting to see how many different ways they worked out their answers, and what they selected to help them such as 100's board, counters and ice block sticks. The two picture starters are at the bottom - the Lego blocks and the crowd.

R words and working together

This term we have been looking at Trentham School's "R words" and what they mean. They are Resourceful, Resilient, Relationships and Respect. The children worked in groups to create a poster for the wall on what they have learnt about the R words.

To understand that Resourcefulness is about using what you have in new ways we used some recycling and came up with new ways to use it. Some of the results came home!

This week we also completed a Poster to go to a class at Helensville Primary School in Auckalnd. As part of a writing exchange we created a poem each on a postcard and sent it to them along with our poster. We are looking forward to looking at their poster and cards next week.

We are looking forward to starting swimming next week.

Room 19 Cross Country photos

All of the Room 19 students who were here today took part in the cross country race and did their best. The distance was 1100m which was a big step up for some. Well done all of you!
