What a super day Tui Hub had at the Carter Observatory and TePapa today. The children really enjoyed the day. The highlight for a lot of the children was the movie that was on a dome on the roof showing our night sky and how we get seasons. We also go to create a model of the distance between planets, used a torch and models to show night and day and why the moon has different phases.
Thank-you to all our wonderful parent helpers. What a great job you all did looking after your groups.

For our inquiry this week we have been learning about shadows. We learnt how a shadow is made when light cannot pass through a solid object. Luckily the sun came out yesterday so we were able to head outside to make outlines of our shadows and to play shadow tag.

This term we are continuing to complete a wider range of comprehension activities at reading time. This storyboard is by the fish reading group....
We have also begun our inquiry for this term........
We brainstormed our ideas about what if there were no sun, then we watched some clips about this topic.
It was a real "what??!!!" moment for some to learn that the earth is spinning, not the sun moving across the sky!
